The Mike Kelley Foundation has awarded SASSAS $33,000 to present the world premiere of Changes: 64 Studies for 6 Harps. Written in 1985, Changes: 64 Studies for 6 Harps uses FORTRAN IV to poetically render the 64 chance procedures of the I-Ching into a microtonal harmonic field performed on six harps tuned a sixth of a semitone apart. While Tenney made computer code printouts of all 64 studies during his lifetime, only 16 were translated to playable scores. Since 2006, dedicated former students have worked to transcribe the remaining studies. More info soon!
